Death

Death

A Poem by kevincarib3

The Parting Days
Invoke a solemn stillness
My wondering thoughts
Are molested by a cunning darkness

The pealing funeral hymns
Swell notes of death
Swallow twittering mock the crows
As I implore a last fleeting breath

Sneered by sin
And scorned by time as he wheels a droning flight
Demons snicker, ambitions placed in fretted volts
Hidden from scattering fragments of light

Consciousness fades like fallen shadows
Life is now at distant folds
My body as cold as a winter's stare
Death presence surely unfolds
