On this Day (other side of the coin)

A Story by Kevin Andros
"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEE!

"
Another year gone. Another year from my life is finished. And yet, what did I achieve in this year? I look at the virtual cake, studded with candles and count them. Each burning candle representing one precious year of my life. My count ends at the number 22.

Incidentally, the first person who happened to wish me told me about the uniqueness about the number 22. The number 22 is even, the number which makes this is the first even number and the sum of the digits is also another even number.

So, I’m quite old now. I’m not a kid anymore. I tell myself for the umpteenth time, I think. I’ve told that to myself on my every birthday, but never really could grow up. Though I don’t look a child, my body has grown, having a mature face and well kept hair, my statute is tall with an athletic build-up doesn’t really helps your mind to grow up. My mind is still the same. And if you do not mature your mind, you are still a child, oblivious to the ways of world.

No, I’m not oblivious to this wicked world. I’ve seen and heard and felt a lot in this world. My eyes observing and my heart understanding. But I never really brought my brain into the action.

But, today is a day that I get a chance to celebrate, a chance to be happy, and it’s not everyday that your every mistakes or silliness is forgiven. And if they are all forgiven, why should we waste that opportunity? We should be our silliest possible self. Let our hair down, as far it can go.

This world is full of sadness, full of misery, full of anxiety, full of tragedy. If there is a single chance that is given to you to be happy for a moment, why should you blow it? What is the whole point? So, I say that every one should enjoy their special day as they like to the fullest extent.

Be happy!

I wrote this today, on 1st of August, when world war one started. By odd co-incidence, it also happens to be the date when I was born.

Interesting way to look at it...to enjoy things while they last, to forget the troubles ...if only for a while.

You may or may not conquer all. But with your never-say-die spirit, you will certainly make the most of it.
Best wishes...
