Fortitude

Fortitude

A Poem by -Keshii-
"

A poem about keeping faith and never giving up, even through the darkest nights.

"
Wandering through the sands afar
her wet hair shimmered by a star
Darkness quells the day to rest
an Orlic pendant glowed by her breast

Another night another fall it seems
nothing new to entrice her dreams
Within her stifled thirst grew
yet unquenched it was after the brew

The camp fire licked the druid air
in and out she drifted through prayer
Nothing answered her thoughts again
nothing came to unburden her pain

***

'I won't let you go never will' he cried
never noticing the deep gash in his side
With all his might he heaved her up
well away from the dark deep drop

'I saved you just in time' he grinned
his crimson stained face seemed thinned
Worn knees be as he fell to the ground
she rushed to him, healing what could

Potions and spells did not cease death
and his face grew faint on each breath
'No. You can't leave. Not yet' she wept
'Take this' he said as their eyes met

***

Thunder cracked and the wind blew cold
the pendant felt warm against her hold
No time to rest as the star shone above
and off she rode silently mourning her love
