The Survivor's Intro.

The Survivor's Intro.

A Poem by Miss Kerri
"

It's been a while.

"
I'm writing this in permanent ink,
As this is, very well, a permanent thought
Of myself, and myself only.
If I screw up,
So let it be,
As it is another mistake I've made,
With this godforsaken mind of mine.
It's not a place i would suggest a vacation to,
Even though it's more of an island,
More or less an abandoned island,
That accepts no visitors,
But of only a survivor's tale.
The sky encompasses the land with fog;
Not your average 6:30 AM mid-spring fog,
But a dense fog that's never seen through.
Rolling over the water like a tidal wave,
The fog never ceases,
Along with the island's wonders.
It's never dark,
But always stale,
And ruthless-standing.
The island only survives,
By the pulse of the sea,
With the hope that one day,
The shine of the lighthouse will be seen,
As it has only ever been seen,
Inside of the mind.

I feel the saddness in your words and yet at the end...(with the hope that one day, the shine of the lighthouse will be seen) there is faith and hope for a brighter tomorrow. Outstanding writing and a poem that is beautifully heartfelt.

I really like this. I am confused however, by the content of the poem, if you want corrections or not. Not sure if THe on the island is intentional.
