Fallen angelA Poem by Martin SeeDedicated to Mom & DadYour falling teardrop into the torrent ocean tides Slipping into the turbulent seas the teardrop tells me your story Yours isn't a trick or a tale of sadness, but words so painful it bleeds my heart of its every ounce of regret for never once able to comprehend the vivid colours of your love. Now I say goodbye to my foolish ways and youthful arrogance I bid farewell to the heat of impulsion and drinking exquisite wine for only to devour them in ignorant bliss. I do not choose a coward's explanation neither will I be charmed by your deceitful lies Do not say the moments were an imagination Do not fall into the abyss of hollow rhetoric of religion Tell me your truths so that I may see your Light. If you could only see how empty love is without your presence, if you could recognise the torment of your absence a thousand kisses deep. I could say 'hello' but I don't know what else besides the weather we would chat about. You did not depart but I left with a sword of bitterness that cut the ties that is now butchered of any love. I pine for you yet I despise you for the emptiness you made me feel. The depth of your angelic pride is the fortress you have built to exclude me, yet you betray yourself a thousand kisses deep. We will walk together again someday towards different paths by the same brook that gave birth to Life. Your hand in mine with a knowing smile inside.
