PrologueA Chapter by Kennedy Powell
“No!!!” Sarena watched in horror as the man in black shot her husband. The sky was dark and windy, lightening flashing every few seconds. He fell in to the rushing, black river, went under, and didn’t come back up. On her cheeks, the streams of tears just got thicker. But she turned around and kept running. She wouldn’t let her husband’s death be in vain.
She leaped over a low fence and ran towards the steps of the Aradle Tower, but it was no use. The man had a horse, and easily outran her. Sarena felt an immediate pain in her back. Blood poured everywhere. She screamed, and fell to the ground. Her eyes went dark, life had fled. The man towered over her, his mission complete. He then raced of in the night. He hadn’t noticed the wrapped bundle rolling across the road, hadn’t seen the baby open it’s eyes for the first time, hadn’t seen the bright neon blue square that formed under the newborn, hadn’t seen the baby disappear and end up on a muddy, wet sidewalk on Earth. © 2011 Kennedy Powell |
