♪The Girl Next Door♪
In time you will forget me
Don't deny it, you know it's true.
We may have lost what we used to be.
But all I ever did was love you.

It's hard when I look back to those times.
Now I'm nearly broken hearted.
Forced to sputter it out in rhymes.
I'm right back where I started.

I thought this would be better for me
Letting go and trying to live a little
But part of my heart is still stuck, you see
Now my emotions are nothing more then a riddle.

He told me his secrets after not to long
I brought him up, told him his place
But when in return he asks what's wrong
All I can say is 'Nothing.' With a fake smile plastered to my face.

So as I lay crying in my bed
With all the love and pain you brought
The love you showed, the things you said,
just please. Forget me not.

Being forgotten by a loved one only means it wasn't true love. That's how I look at it, anyways. And if things didn't work out for you two, that means the real thing still awaits you.
As for the poem itself, I really liked it. A rhyming scheme like this one isn't easy to pull off without ruining the rhythm, and you've managed to do an excellent job.

P.S. I really don't know who could forget you, Kenzie. Even though I know you just over the internet, I can see how amazing you are, and meeting you in person would be the ultimate awesomness.

Beautifully written, yet saddening... ``If one you love has forgotten you, they were never met for you.'' ( A rhyme I made.) If it's meant to be,it's meant to be. :)

I don't think anyone wants to be forgotten and yet our human fear generates such despair in believing it is possible. This was a great poem.

A far better rhymer then I could ever hope to be :P

Trust and love are two different things but it's hard to make one thing work without the other. It seems to me that in this poem, the person didn't trust but loved dearly. :)
