Anthology for a Friend: ConquistadorA Poem by Kenzie MorgI'm creating an anthology of poems, and hopefully artwork, for my best friend's birthday. Some of these poems are questionable and first drafts. Some of them reveal things that I wouldn't share.
I would carve away hours
Just to see you smile To see you laugh For your mouth to widen Four miles So please Beloved Remove yourself from the sorrow From the sadness The hopeless aching feeling in your chest Because when I hear you're so dependent I can tolerate it less and less Please give up this unhealthy passion And indulge my own The charm they have enchants you Too easily Let go of the desire of love Yours is one sided Mine whole hearted I want to be anything to you I am but humble to your name And weak in my knees, heart and mind You are guilty of treason toward yourself You bend to anyone We are only flesh and bones So how far must you flex Before you break? Leave these worldly desires For a former admire. That conquistador came Conquered Then abandoned the colony To fend for itself For your heart to be neglected Hungry for love and continuously attacked And once again by conquistador. Yet nothing but a shell, The former has seized your heart. I don't want to see more tears Until they are those of overwhelming happiness I want to talk freely with you Without the mention of attackers (who stole your heart) Only then will I reach happiness I can only do so When you do
