Please Remember

Please Remember

A Poem by K.M

Do you remember all of those blanket forts we used to build?
And how we used to break our fingers over trying to build the best one?
Those were the days
The days of missing teeth and skinned knees
All of those thorns we got in our feet, and all of those bee stings
Remember when we would eat honey suckles, and pretend we were birds?
We would act for each other, and say the same words
I would fall asleep on your princess piggy bank, in the back of your car
I accidentally broke into your house, and your dog gave me scars
You used to tell me you were going to be a gymnastics star
The days of Spy Kids 2 and Barbie radio
I wish our time would not be forgotten...
But sometimes you have to let memories go

Memories don't go away. Just put away for awhile.
"I wish our time would not be forgotten...
But sometimes you have to let memories go"
I like the honest tone and ending. Thank you Kenzie for sharing your excellent poetry.

Oh yes, I remember but it was sliding down hillsides in cardboard box's, chewing on sassafrass bark, picking and eating wild strawberries till our belly was ready to pop, walking to the theater in town on Saturday afternoons. Oh yes I remember it now, just like it was 50 years ago, thank you for reminding me :~)

Very nice poem, remembering good days, something we all. Memories are the one thing that no one can take away from us so why would you want to forget...
