The One That I lost

The One That I lost

A Poem by K.M

I f I could do any first impression over again,it would be yours
I would have been normal
Then maybe you would have loved me, the way I loved you
You were the person that helped me out of my depression
And that is true love
I could never forget you even though you are gone...
I still think about you often
You are still in my dreams
When I think about you... it brings tears to my eyes
I know you have moved on... but how could you leave me behind?
I wish I could see your smile one more time
I probably have not crossed your mind one time
And that is fine
You actually have a life
Then there is me
The girl that thinks she has friends, when she actually has none
The girl that looks at the stars and thinks about the past
While she tries not to think about the future
Because she knows that it would be a terrible place without you in it
I am the girl that writes poetry on Thursday nights to try to get over my losses
But when tomorrow comes I actually lose more
I thought I had a place in the world, but I am no one without you
I hope you come back, because I am drowning in a sea of regret
That has your name etched into the sand
I hope you return back to the wave that you left me on
But for now I will wait

Excellent. Thought provoking. Keep your happiness close to your own heart. If someone else holds your happiness, when they leave they take it with them.

Just one question Kenzie... In the second line... What is 'normal'? Do you mean you would have been yourself? We can only be ourselves. I might regret making stupid decisions but that was the decision that I, Andronicus made at the time. I am a real person, I do stupid things sometimes, so if you love me you have to understand that.
Great write... and so painfully relatable...
Keep writing & Keep Smiling :)

This is a very deep poem, and if personal then I hope for you healing and to realize that you are special and that you are enough just on your own. There are many who could learn much from what you have written, and have been through the same. The time will pass though, but try not to be the one who waits, instead be the one who lives no matter what. Living is the only way to get over ones losses. In moving forward, in thinking about the future, more doors and possibilities become apparent. Still there is nothing wrong with writing poetry that helps to reflect, especially on a thursday night. You have captured something in your first line, "If I can do any first impression over again," excellent line. Please keep writing, thanks for sharing, and wish you all the best!
