waterfront views (1995)A Poem by kenwillppromenade park in toledo, ohio as I sat in obsevation of something other than selfI watched a man run in bright colored shoe; then came a woman who had a rock in her's too. we all sat down to rest at the waterfront view.
The trees waved gingerly to clouds passing by, while winds blew gentle warmly July. And the clouds cast shadows on the river that was nigh.
A white breasted sea-gull did boldly approached me in a feathery gray suit.. His eyes met mind but I had not a clue. Till his glance looked down at the waterfront view.
And the tree I did meet being friendly by nature, did introduce some strangely small creatures. But they all bid leave I stay in my pleasures.
Oddly shaped and concrete trimmed islands of grass did follow the river, so did evenly spaced piers some with small boats that quivered. And with time patches of blue waterfront sky grew bigger.
Sparingly as though at some great cost, occasional boats swam against gray currents. And a rainbow of flags upon white poles signalled as the wind warranted. In all its circumstance a delightful daily occurrence.
There in my view a magnificent marvel, stretching forth its lengthy expanse. Its awesome strength told in its mighty blue girder stance. Ferrying with ease weighty cars, even great buses and trucks by chance.
Then with night came the stars, and there too was the moon. This waterfront view as elaborate as noon's, daylight had run out still spellbound I loomed.
If I hear on the morrow, there's nothing to do. With staunch disbelief and fervent knowledge to reprove, I'll claim with a shout let's check out the waterfront view.
