Almost

Almost

A Poem by Kal-emma

she promised herself to me
in my dreams
wasn't sure how I wanted her
maybe in the form of Isis
or Betty Shabazz
she's gritty
like the boogie down Bronx
rockin' shell top adidas
used to wear dashikis
pumpin' her fist in the air
now she's smooth and eloquent
like a saxaphone
she is jazz
cause blue isn't her color
she follows the path of her mother
I love her
The past I've already lived
but it's the future that has me all aglow
I see our son
tupac and nas wrapped up into one
though he's only a thought in my mind
I see him coming
I know she wants a son
and when we jump the broom
I'll do whatever in my power
to keep her radiating
radioactive love
and she can't see that without her
I'm lost
to the truth that is actually
complete fallacy
we aren't lovers
we aren't spouses
but we are
in my dreams
