A Poem by Kena Dawn Augustine

I don’t need to rely on you.

You are not my music.

Not my harmony to my melody

Chord to my music sheet

Ready for my heart to beat after each beat

You create…..

Yet I relied on you.

Caressing my skin as

Strings on a Spanish guitar,

Playing me until there was no playing left,

No words left to sing,

Like notes dancing off of a

Discordant union,

Trying to make a melodic sound

But instead a rhythm so off beat,

So incomplete,

Nothing left but a empty music sheet.

With memories of love as white as the production.

But I want to sing.

I want the grip on my throat to cease,

So relentless on my lack of musical inspiration,

Thinking you made everything so tangible and real,

When in reality it’s all up to me

To create a song that’s mine to tell….

Author's Note

Kena Dawn Augustine
something to get my mind out of my writers block. About a former ex I used to date; my producer. In some ways I felt he was the one creating my music, when it was me!!
