My Catharsis through words: an introductionA Poem by Kena Dawn AugustineThis explains about my book....an intro....My catharsis through words~~ An introduction
Inside all of us lies a soul. An emotional part of human
nature. Where deep inside of us lies
a hunger for self-expression, to expose ourselves to
others, whether
through dance, art, song, or poetry… A catharsis is born which
helps us understand and piece together our complex, and often
difficult lives on our journey. I believe that in all of us
lies poetic expression. For me, writing is a way to
purge my emotions. I respect poetry, in all
forms, because there is something so beautiful in the act of expressing
ourselves, and its poignant and simple touch that it has on our lives. In my book of poetry titled, The Poetry Soldier, there is depth that goes beyond simple minds,
power that is felt through the
pages, in each stanza and word. The pen I use to bridle exposed
passions and create harmony. My hope is that my words can
help you, mend your wounded heart, bring your mind to a state of
consciousness, to the art of
self-expression. I open myself up to you…
Additional Note: My
poetry leans more towards prose, and I tell a story, created through my life
experiences, whether good or bad. I don't usually take on particular poetic
forms, however, rhyming poetry, free verse, and spoken word appeals to me the
most. My poetic influences include Maya Angelou, Susan Polis Shultz, Robert
Louis Stevenson, Shel Silverstein,
Rumi, Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, Jewel, Jill Scott. |
