In Pieces

In Pieces

A Poem by Kena Dawn Augustine

I am in pieces.

Scattered memories of myself.

Looking through eyes of grandeur, but often sadness,

Locked behind repression of past oppression…

Too afraid of the outcome,

So many jagged edges for being complete

In the hands of another still leaves a cracked shell.

I am in pieces,

Gathering bits of my fragility

Because I was handled wrongly,

giving out my heart on a platter,

because being consumed so quickly

is all I am there for…

to satieate another,

fulfill their desires, and not my own.

I am in pieces,

Because what I want is broken,

Away from any chances of being put

Together, because I like the pain…

Running my fingers against the edges of your

Sharp intentions,

Because you cracked me in every direction,

In a million pieces.

Scattered on the ground,

Too shattered to be put back together….

Love is give and take and if you are doing all the giving then it is not worth your time... you always got to put yourself first... I do understand and relate well cause I have been guilty of this too.
