Ice Queen

Ice Queen

A Poem by ken burke

The snow gently falls to the ground

causing a white paradise to form all around

the gentle flakes stack up on the window sill

causing the the room to get a slow chill

the flames burst from the burning logs

protecting us from the vengeful fog

its coming to swallow us and keep us in its dreary prison

but it is stopped by this fiery enclosure that has arisen

it bangs and tries to bust through our cage's walls

trying to get the one and only angel from heaven she falls

I look at you and see all the love that we have between,

I realize its not me this cold storm is after its my ice queen

Ken,

Lighten up... its cool - people need a lil space to think on what they feel sometimes. Most work tends to have lil stumbles - remem poetry is meant to be heard - not just silently read. So read it aloud and pause as YOU feel you need to and be sure you MARK your work exactly where you paused. Then format your poem or prose to match your breaks.

Rhyme is an interesting way to tie work together... and so is the syllable count/meter. When its forced the words seem to fight instead of fit.

If I can help give a hollar.

Take care,
Chris
