Checkmate

Checkmate

A Poem by Kacie Delane Davis
"

something i heard said in my daydream

"

he was my king
and I was his queen

the world was our stage
its people our pawns and performers
together we'd have a grand performance

I was suppose to protect him
but I let someone else steal his crown.
brick by brick
we watched our kingdom fall down

my king buried in its remains

so now we lay him to rest
our maker has bid him
checkmate

As in a game, we try to orchestrate with failure. You bid farewell with bitter tears. Solemn poetic piece with untamed emotion.
