chapter 1A Chapter by kemi owa
Am a murderer! You know what they say when you witness a murder you become an accomplice and this other saying that a friend of a thief is a thief. I am just beating around the grass. My name is Judith fagbemi and I witnessed a murder. (isn't that how they start all those crime novels, I always thought it was cool and freaky, except this is not a crime novel and it is so not cool because it happened to me and am way passed freaked out I want to pass out). This is how it all started.
The call from my bladder had me getting up from bed in the middle of the night. Like a robot I unlocked the door went to a corner and did my business ( hey don't blame me our toilets are not usable) on my way I heard a sound (I know typical right? But it did happen) coming from the second staircase that students hardly ever use I chose to ignore it and proceeded to the taps to Wash my hands. On nearing my room I heard the sound again and this time I went to investigate. I climbed the steps and had to hold my breath the stench of the urine was strong as I turned the corner to continue my ascent I froze. A girl held another girl by her throat the girl was making choking noises as she struggled the strangler released her hold on the stranglee a little bit and stuffed her full hand in the stranglee's mouth. She began to gag. The strangler began the process of strangling her with both hands. And then my brain unfroze what should I do? should I scream or tackle the girl? Tackle and risk being strangled? nah! scream it is. as I opened my mouth to scream the stranglee dropped, not moving. instead of a scream what came out was a Squeak. the killer abruptly turned towards me removing her face from the shadows and giving me a glimpse of her face, but the glimpse was enough I recognized the face. I turned swiftly and ran down the steps not waiting to see the killers movement I kept on running past the rooms until I reached the common room I paused to catch my breath before walking to the reading room where more people where I went to the back of the of the reading room I was still breathing heavily I looked out the window and saw the killer she had a crazed and desperate look in her eyes I bumped my leg on a table and the occupant shot me a dirty look I didn't bother apologizing. I just went farther back, sat down ,put my head down and thought 'my roommate is a killer' © 2015 kemi owaAuthor's Note
