Guilty Pleasure

Guilty Pleasure

A Poem by Kels-Ace

It gnaws and mauls tirelessly,

At the peace you so diligently fostered,
Relentlessly it continues until feelings become prisons,

Be gone you wicked invader,
This heart is already weeping enough,
Relentlessly it perseveres until insides turn to stone,

Anything and everything,
A reminder of me drowning once more,
Relentlessly it continues to drag me down below,

Will its tenacity never end,
Knees to ground and head to the heavens,
Relentlessly repentant tears wash away the filth,

Time continues to succour,
As conscience plays among the dead,
Relentlessly I cling to this redeeming darkness,

And sooner than later,
When the pleasure is but a faded flicker,
Relentlessly my morals rise stronger than ever,

Guilt no longer the winner.
