Hallways.

Hallways.

A Chapter by kelsie

(Quinn’s POV)

Tap, tap, tap, tap.

Quinn’s flats made a steady beat as she made her way down Vermont High’s hallways. Her step always had a spring in it, and this caused her blonde curls to bounce happily on her shoulders and back. Her lips were turned into the winning smile everyone knew. Her eyes were lined with the sparkly grey pencil that only she could pull off, because it made her grey and blue eyes pop.

Why she was smiling, she couldn’t tell you. The halls were empty and quiet. No students were around, crowding at their friends lockers, gossiping in the middle of the hallway. It was quiet. Peaceful. Maybe that was why she was smiling. Quinn liked quiet, solitude. Sure, she was like any other 16 year old. Guys, partying, under aged drinking, late nights with friends. She enjoyed them all. But there was something about peace and quiet that was so... peaceful. And quiet.

She had been late for school this morning, something that rarely happened. Her alarm clock decided not to wake her up in order to get ready for school on time. Well, the extra sleep was good, she had been up late partying all weekend. Being 45 minutes late wasn’t all that bad, was it?

Her hips were swaying side to side with the rhythm of the song she was humming. Though she couldn’t place her finger on the song, it was quite catchy, not to mention stuck in her head. Each time her left hip struck out to the beat, one of the numbers in her lock combination was hit. The locker swung open before her. She pulled out her notebooks and all the other crap she needed and slammed it shut.

That’s when she saw him. She hadn’t seen him or heard him enter. And he scared the beejebus out of her.

His hair was black and straight, and a fringe, streaked with a vibrat green and purple. fell over where his eyes should be. Where was his face?

It took Quinn a few minutes to realize that he was wearing a mask. A full facial mask. It almost looked like a mix between a goalie mask and a gas mask. It was kind of creepy, but unique and cute at the same time. Quinn just left her smile as it was.

“Uh… hello,” she said.

The boy was quiet. He just stared at her.

Quinn repositioned her weight awkwardly. The sudden movement seem to put him on guard. He stood there for a moment and stared at her. Then he took off down the hall. Without questioning it, Quinn pressed the thought from her mind and continued to her biology classroom.
