bottles

bottles

A Poem by Kelsey Rogers

I've always been so used to being the rock
but now I'm clinging onto your chest
and sobbing like it's my job.
I'm just so used to being the rock
all this time that I forgot to look at myself

Now I'm tumbling,
ready to cause an avalanche and self destruct
and the last thing I want
is for you to have to clean up the residue

even in our darkest hours we are able to think about what we might leave behind for our loved ones to clean up... a cousin of mine took his life many years ago and left his mom with a residue that will never wash off or allow her to rest...

this is another great write, Kelsey.

Kelsey, I noticed that you have reviewed on of my writes, so before I read it I wanted to review one of yours. I chose "bottles" because I am a recovering alcoholic and I thought it may be about something similar. By the tone and tenor of the write I think it MAY HAVE, though I'm not sure. If you knew me you would know that I don't like quoting writes in pieces that I review but one line stood out for me: "...and sobbing like it's my job." I've been there, I identify. A very accomplished write and I am bookmarking your page and will try to come back and review some more. take care...dan
