A Poem by Kelsey
"

Comparing nature to something it is quite unlike.

"

A table covered with papers scattered around
Dried leaves blown over the grassy ground
Fingers on keyboard always rap-tap-a-tapping
A squirrel with a nut on a tree-branch, cracking
A pencil teeters slowly over the table’s edge
A twig threatens to fall into the dark hedge
Countless stacks of textbooks, unopened, uninviting
Heaps of stones, hard and cold, unwelcome, not delighting
A pipe, its inner ash, a stream of swirling smoke
Mound of fine dirt, bitter, wind disturbs it, butterflies choke
Man leans back, wooden chair creaks
The lachrymose moan of the wind through the trees
