Sad-Eyed Girls

Sad-Eyed Girls

A Poem by Kelsey B.

The girl with the sad eyes
Who waits for the sunrise
Is the one that you’ll never see cry
She saves up her teardrops
To die in the raindrops
And kisses the world goodbye

Those sad-eyed young girls
With their hair done in curls
Are waiting for somebody’s smile
They sit and they sigh
And sometimes they cry
They know they’ll be waiting a while

Her eyes fill with tears
And she can’t face her fears
They’re waiting to carry her through
So she holds out her hand
And lays down in the sand
She’s hoping you’ll carry her too
