The TravelersA Poem by Kelsey Desmond
They say what you don't know won't hurt you,
But nothing's painless in the end. They tell you lies to bruise you. So you can't defend. They say that they're your friends. That they mean no harm. But the tears fall down like raindrops In a mighty storm. So you're pushed just enough So that they know you're broken. You sweat so hard, And it's all for them. You break your back, And hold your breath. You try to stand, But you can't take the next step. So soon enough you open your arms, And accept the warmth of the yellow sun. You hide you mask, Un-paint your face, Because they have won.
