Walk Away

Walk Away

A Poem by Kelsey Desmond

 You come back around.

The wind's in your hair.

I miss the times before.

So much it overwhelms me.

Beyond compare.

You want another chance.

My heart can't resist.

I want to jump back into your arms.

So we can fly away together.

But there's something that I missed.

I need you, I love indeed.

I love everything about you,

And you still want me too.

I'm almost to the breaking point.

I've almost fallen back in love with you.

But that would be wrong.

I take a step for the door.

It's not too late to turn back,

My body aches for me to do so.

But I've made this mistake before.

A word lingers from my lips,

The same words you just said.

"I love you," I say.

But I add another line.

"But I can't get over you again."

So I take the final steps out the door.

A tear falls down my cheek.

But I hope one feel for you, too.

I've walked away from love.

Something until now, I felt impossible to do.

Intense. The one word that keeps jumping to mind after I read this.
Your rhyme scheme is an uncommon one, but I like it. You have the discipline to keep it going throughout the poem in a consistent manner.
Walking away from someone is not something I've ever experienced, but you captured the emotions that would be there, really well.
Wonderful write.

Yours truly,

I think you got the feelings across and made the reader feel your heartache. It's always hard to move on from someone you love, but sometimes its the right thing to do. I feel that this is what the poem signifies. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing.
