Suicide

Suicide

A Poem by Kelsey Desmond

 I've thought of running away.

And thought of fooling them.

Those people, that want to cheat me to my end.

For them, I've thought of everything.

But only one seems to fit.

To give them what they want.

So what they got, they can flaunt.

Suicide: I'm pretty sure that's it.

So this is my last letter to my family.

It moments I am no more.

Our family of five, is a family of four.

And someday you will see.

My one wish i that you remember.

To forget.

You really get right to the emotion without wasting a word. It's a really good piece, even if the place it brings me isn't the happiest (I just read a poem about puppies and kitty cats before this, so I'm hitting the full range of emotions, tonight).

Personal favorite line, and most likely at some point to be the chorus and/or bridge of an alt-rock angst song: "My one wish i that you remember... To forget." THAT is how you close out a depressing suicide poem!

You write so honesty and powerfully about a subject to devastating. This is a very vivid and haunting write.

CHUCK PALAHNIUK: "The only difference between a suicide and a martyrdom really is press coverage."

Painful .. but expressive. I sympathise greatly with your words.
A sombre subject expressed in way that almost makes it feel beautful
