Chasing Lights

Chasing Lights

A Poem by Kelsey Mclaren
"

Even if you frantically try to mix oil and water, the two solutions will never merge together.

"
We chase lights
as endlessly and impossibly as tracing the billion stars,
in a relentless search
for the great constellations in alignment to be drawn.

The earth’s magnetic field
does not excuse for the tide and storms it brings,
As naturally have our mere souls
been drawn back to each other like knots.

Yet we untie and untie - and untie again,
Maybe our hearts can unclotter the mess they have made.

Yet the world moves around and around,
The ever moving rotation where hope is not found.

Yet we love and we love,
like trying to separate the ocean from its salt.

Yet we are foolish and growing weary each day,
How long does the tunnel sight last
before we both fatuously decay?
