Insomnia

Insomnia

A Poem by Kelsey Mclaren
"

''Insomnia holds me closer than my lover''

"

The demons come crawling back in,

From under my bed,

From the darkest parts of my soul to taunt me until the next dawn comes.

Their teeth are gnawing at my mind,

Swallowing my happiness and clawing their way through my skin and into my veins.

My insomnia monsters haunt me nightly and I twist and turn relentlessly for hours and they laugh at how exhausted I end up,

And they come back every night to keep me up.

I was drawn to this poem by its title. I too have written a poem called "Insomnia." No problem there of course, as there is no copyright for titles to poems or songs. I suffer from insomnia, although some nights are worse than others. You describe the suffering we have to go through quite well, here in your poem!
