Apple tree

Apple tree

A Poem by Kelsey Mclaren

I remember my old and open heart and it's been a long time since I've welcomed my old heart.
Only small glimpses of the warm days when my heart was a soft muscle, letting everyone take a bite of it.
To even imagine that my heart was once so light and tossed around the words ''I love you'' so easily.
My love was simple and easy and I gave it out like pie pieces to anyone who wanted.
I guess you never realise that there will be those who'll spit it out after the first taste.
I didn't used to understand how something so sweet and innocent could make people disgusted.
They picked my heart like it was apples on a tree and handed it out to anyone who wanted.
They spat and wanted more and more of the tree.. untill no apples were left.
