Levitation's Freedom

Levitation's Freedom

A Poem by Kelly

lost and summers coming round

a long lost freedom of my smile

a love that staples with the sun

and all our memories lost together

            build a castle

bittersweet now has a name

like nothing I thought I knew

drum beat of my days

            my tunnel vision

sight of a runner

            leaves like snow

spin the calendar

            congratulations

you’ve made it once more around the sun

that’s more than some can say

currents of people

            faces and souls

I’ll never know

            and triggers

a misstep to change my life

another footstep to pass them by

hovering

            a heart’s desire

waiting

            like a secret entitlement

that only you will know

            unless

1

            2

3

            you leap

not a jump

            not even a fall

a leap

            and maybe

maybe gravity will win again

            or maybe

this time I’ll let go

            this time I’ll fly

steady march

            impatient seconds

rush

            heartbeat

or footsteps?

            levitation

or flight?
