They do not understand the girl in the corner

They do not understand the girl in the corner

A Poem by Mickey

T
hey do not understand the girl in the corner.

She sits silently
with her pen
etching her feelings
onto the smooth skin
of her arm.
She sits silently
shivering

from the raw emotions
scratching at the insides
of her heart.
She sits silently
eyes closed
blocking the sounds
from the impact
of her brain exploding.
She sits silently
each tear
a reminiscence
of a nightmare
she can't forget.
She sits silently
waiting
for the day
she will be free
from her  memories.

They do not understand the girl in the corner.
