Why?

I just had my heart broken and wanted to know the answers essentially everyone wants to know after they are broken up with.

I know you once cared about me
So what makes it different now
I am like a log drifting out at sea
Wanting to come back but not knowing how

I wish our friendship could one day be
What we both know is true
I want it to be careless and free
I only want to be with you
