Melancholic

Melancholic

A Poem by Chara

Sad is such an ugly word
Depressing is even more uglier
For me, the word sad should be redacted
It shouldn’t even be uttered
In parties and hangouts
It’s the elephant in the room that no one pays attention to
Its elongated trunk, crashing, destroying everything it comes upon
Yet no one bothers to acknowledge
For it is such an ugly word
If one states the 3-lettered abhorrent or even show hints of nausea
Instantly the elephant rages, crashing, destroying everything it comes upon
The crowd gathers around with leash and some guns
To restrain the [redacted] they chose to ignore
I come towards it with velvet cloth at hand
Melancholic to hide the ugly beneath the fancy words with my golden tongue
A velvet veil of orange and yellow
The satined ribbon of white
To hide the elephant crying in captive
While the crowd slowly resumes to its gala
And I marvel at the beauty of the melancholic
