CycleA Poem by CharaLying on
my bed Snuggled
between the cushions Basking
in the comfort and heat emitted by the soft fabric of quilt Frantic
and light-headed I decided
to sleep instead For
failure is not on my mindset Just
death A thought
engulfed my mind “I’m
going to regret this later” Even
though it did It did
not stop me from closing my eyes and basking in the comfort of my bed For
failure is not on my mindset Just
death I always
question what life is worth The
phrase “Life is an adventure!” becomes overused, overrated even It makes
my ears ring, filling my insides with abhorrence The
thought makes me want to vomit It
romanticizes the meaning of life Making
people believe that life is just a green pasture Untouched,
waiting to be discovered “Life is
an adventure!” Maybe it
is Rather
than green pastures and wide paths, It is an
adventure, a trek It is a
steep summit with high chances of falling into your demise The sun With all
its glory Its
condescending gleam With its
narcissistic notion Thinking
that it is the most significant in the celestial bodies Life is a
cycle Every
morning, the sun invades you with its rays and warmth, presuming that you are
in dire need of one No, you
don’t But
rather, you just want to conceal yourself and scamper away from its overwhelming
luminescence © 2019 CharaFeatured Review
