The carnivalA Story by keerthi_2810the point of view from a girl of the joy of going through the carnival. All around you there are masses of people racing around the
entrance with their maps in hand scurrying to their favourite high speed roller
coaster ride; it was like a stampede of rhinos in the middle of the African
jungle. You could feel the warm bodies of strangers pressed up against yours
shouting at their kids to not wander off. In the distance you could see the
runaway mine train ricocheting around the track like a bullet being fired from
a barrel. As big golden gates greeted you towards the park, you could almost feel
the vibrations going through your bones from children slaughters and squeals of
delight. You could just sense the joy in the air like electricity. Your eyes don’t know where to rest first as colours from baby
pink to neon green blow up in your face. Theme parks always have the most
creatively decorated stalls. The bustling streets were filled with oohs and aahs.
There were rides from beautiful vintage carousels to fifty foot roller
coasters. The smell in the air was at the same time fragrant and bitter, as
rows and rows of booths radiated the smell of sweet caramel apples and the
rusty metallic stench from the rides. The sight and smell was at the same time
exuberating and overwhelming. A trickle of excitement goes through your spine
and ends at the pit of your stomach as you’re mentally deciding which ride to
go on first. As the sun began to dip beyond the horizon, right lights
began to erupt all around me lightening up the darkening evening sky. All the
stalls came alive with lights of fury. You could see the faces of everyone
light up in amazement as they stared at the vast decorations of luminous signs.
Just getting a whiff of the cool carnival night air really shoots energy
through your veins. You could smell the deep-fry dough of the corndogs to the
hot salted butter popcorns in the refreshing nighttime air. The best way to end the beautiful nights is sitting atop the
Ferris wheel looking down at the picturesque view, having food in your hands
and just enjoying the blasting colours of the firework display. As the Ferris
wheel slowly takes you to the top, you can feel your muscles relax and unwind.
When you’re up there floating in the air, everything around you seems so
miniscule. You can feel the stress and pressure slip away from the tips of your
fingers. The fireworks produced an assortment of splendid colours. The
whole view was unquestionably a sight worth remembering. It was greeted by a
chorus of cheers as the fireworks rocketed in a blasting roar. It was truly the
night’s highlight. © 2014 keerthi_2810Author's Note
