Forbidden loveA Story by keerthi_2810this story or poetic writing depicts the point of view of a broken hearted girl. a girl who knows she is in a forbidden love. For a long time, we have lived in peace as we have never had regard for one another and all of a sudden you decided to acknowledge the fact that I existed. In public, all we have ever had was meaningless flirtation or friendly chatter as we pass by but that was all. So you could expect my surprise as I fell head-first into your heart. Now every time you pass me a glance, my heart skips a beat even as I know your heart belongs to another. For every time I have a heard a phrase of such I pass it off as worthless cliché but now all the romantic platitudes make sense. Ever since our first real encounter, all I have thought since then were bits and pieces of our conversation, the slight curve of your nose, the one-sided smile you smile whenever passing a furtive glance or even the fashionable clothes you pride yourself wearing. Whenever the world around me seems to implode in on itself or in simple words just feel empty, I would pick up a book and seek refuge. It startled me how even books couldn’t pull me out of my reverie. Did I have hope if even books couldn’t startle me out of my forbidden love? Every time you would spare a
glance or flick a flirtatious smile towards another girl, I would feel as if a
shard of glass were struck through my heart. The deep pang of jealousy I have
never felt before was surprisingly overwhelming as thoughts of you would swarm
in and out of my head at inappropriate times. But alas you have your eyes laid
on someone else, your heart forever corded with another, need I say more? It is
a forbidden love, one I know you will never return but as Will says in Clockwork Princess, “I want you to be happy, and him to be
happy. And yet when you walk that aisle to meet him and join yourselves forever
you will walk an invisible path of the shards of my heart.” But I must move on, no matter how hard. With one last look
and a sad smile, I say goodbye.
