![]() NourishmentA Poem by Bookworm1223Afraid for my life, I long for yours. I spurn your arms, Yet I long for your comfort. Your love was starvation, My soul was malnourished, But now I find myself begging. Begging for your brand of hunger. I mustn't give in. I can't let temptation win. You're temptation, my darling, In the purest form. Red wine kisses, Spilling from your velvet lips, Promises to be broken, Lay restlessly on your tongue. Your arms were a prison, Gilded and glowing, And whilst within them, I felt myself whole. Yet when without, I realized the truth. My love for you, Abiding, everlasting, Was never satiated. Never returned. You could not meet my heart's demands. And when I placed it in your hands, Calloused and hard, You did not know how to hold it. You fumbled, it fell, And as it fell, I watched your eyes. Your sweet eyes that read my mind. They screamed with sorrow. They drowned in inability. And as my heart crashed, Crashed hard against the thorny ground below, You stumbled back in fear, In pain. You turned from me. You let me go. Despite my pleas, my cries, and all my tears, You let me go. So now, love, I must let you go. So though my soul thirsts for your starvation, I must nourish myself. I must nourish myself.
