![]() What a Hell of a MutinyA Poem by Bookworm1223
The captain of the ship,
They say that he knows best. We do as we're told, And never mind the rest. He sees the waves Before we do; Keeps us safe, Sails us through. He provides What we require. Knows our wants, Our heart's desire. But even with our steadfast master Standing at the helm, Storm clouds rumble in the sky, And we are overwhelmed. As the dark waves crash, Both starboard and port, We question our journey, We want to abort. To delve down deep In the roiling murky depths To let the darkness win, And our existence to forget. Our strong and fearless leader Tries to pull us from our thoughts But our hands are tied behind our backs By our many mental knots. He screams into our face, Blustering in vain. He can not see that we have lost, That in defeat we lay. So alas we take the final plunge, Our bodies swallowed by the sea As our sad skipper shakes his head, "What a hell of a mutiny." © 2015 Bookworm1223 |
