The Scrabble

The Scrabble

A Poem by kdpgrahi
"

The mid-life thoughts

"

I try to play, appropriately.

With the N on the little pink star.

Twenty-two points.

I watch my wife's smug expression

as she rearranges her letters.

Clack, clack, clack.

I hate her.

If she wasn't around,

I'd be doing something interesting right now.

I'd be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

I'd be starring in the latest Hollywood blockbuster.

I'd be sailing the Vendee Globe

on a 60-foot clipper called the New Horizons -

I don't know, but I'd be doing something

She plays JINXED, with the J on a double-letter score.

30 points. She's beating me already.

May be it is the appropriate time

I should kill her.

Some people are better spellers. Best to leave them to their conquest and smile. I like the poem. I make wishes for a great escape everyday. I rarely leave the yard except for work or food shopping. I like the ending to the excellent poem.

A very raw piece but very nicely written. Great job

Very bitter and raw. I loved it. I got this image in my mind of a couple that has been together for too long, but neither of them want to let go and move on. I love the ending too. Sometimes when you've been with someone for so many years, even the littlest things become arguments or hateful: like Scrabble.

Oh my! I hate playing Scrabble too, what a boring game. Apparently the poet here doesn't like it either. Well done KD :)

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is wonderful, crass but wonderfully tongue in cheek. Dabbling in scrabbling can be dangerous it seems, maybe you should try Kilimanjaro?

Blesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
