A Poem by Mortimer Brewster

Why some days I hear Death calling

I know I’m not the only one

I just hope I’m not slipping and falling

On those days I will not give in

I will not tire, give up or let go

Someday I will lose but today I will win

Death has taken so many loved ones

Some older, some younger and I see

That everyone is a target no one can escape

I just hope that when my time comes I’m ready

But until that time comes

I will live my life without limitations

I will be a good husband, father, son, brother

And when my time come I hope the summation

Of my life makes my family say

He lived life to the fullest and with pride

For his loved ones and friends

And when his time came he had nothing to hide
