Bomb Attack in Bangladesh Left One Dead and Scores Injured

The incident that hurts the mind

An unprecedented incident of bomb attack on Shia Muslim procession took place in Bangladesh on last 24 October 2015. 

The incident took place at Hossaini Dalan in Bangladesh capital city Dhaka.

It has already been publicly known through publication as one of the top news items in different print and electronic medias home and abroad that on occasion of holy Ashura the Shia Muslim people were getting preparation to bring out a procession at around 1:30 pm. 

It was a religious event the people of Shia community have been observing for last few decades but this is the first time such kind of peaceful and religious event in Bangladesh came under bomb attack which left one dead and at least 99 people severely wounded. 

Constitutionally Bangladesh is a Muslim country but a place of peaceful cohabitation of a number of people belonging to different religions. They have been exercising their own religions since the country's independence achieved from the then West Pakistan through a nine month long bloody war. 

Apart from a few sporadic incidents no gruesome bomb attack on religious events are recorded. 

But recently religious events especially other than Islamic ones are becoming target of a certain group of militant people. Even the biggest Hindu religious event Durga puja, recently concluded, came under attack at different parts of the country. 

The criminals of these crimes have not been identified so far by the government though IS has claimed its hands behind the bomb attack on Shia Muslim procession. But the government denied its existence in the country.
