From The Page of Diary "Ticket"A Story by K C MilanWritten on the emotion of coming from home townFROM THE PAGE OF DIARY First of all after waking up from sweet sleep in the morning what I remember is today. Today is Monday. "TICKET" like all of our office staff I supposed to be in office. I supposed to be busy preparing myself for office and start walking by 7:30. But I am on leave for today and now in Bogra. In fact I have to use this day for going back to Dhaka and be available myself in office tomorrow. In this sense the day is the day of my going back. I am getting preparation. As part of preparation I went out to bus stand and bought a ticket. Lunch would be ready before hand that I can go and reach my destination in time. My prayer 'God please help me to reach my destination safe' can be considered as another part of preparation. However, I was walking by the way beside a graveyard which was not new or unknown to me. But the new thing was its newly built boundary wall and a gate written upon it with the words 'Graveyard of Bogra Christio Mondoli' which means this is the place where the people of Christian community of Bogra city should lay forever after they die and the fact is I am one of them. I wished to have a look at inside of it but could not as the door was closed. Anyway, I continued my walking towards bus terminal thinking this way that many things of life and of the world can be changed or avoidable or covered up in different shape in different times. But death only death is unchangeable and unavoidable. I can remember a number of people of Bogra Christian community have already died and now are laying in this graveyard. Not only that many a number of famous personalities such as writers, scientists, doctors, social workers, actors, religious leaders, powerful political leaders, high officials, ministers, head of the states died and laid in some graveyards of the world. This is what, most probably, I heard from some people saying, 'Graveyard is the last destination of every human being.' This is true in a sense. But still I can not agree with them. I remember in the Bible especially in the book of Philippians 3:20 says, " Our citizenship is in heaven." Meaning our actual destination is heaven. According to this particular verse we in the world are like foreigners came for a limited time and then we will leave for our own land. In this case death works as a media only. Those who follow Jesus believe death can destroy only our bones, blood or flesh but not soul. In fact death helps us to transform ourselves into eternal beings from temporary ones. Following Jesus means putting faith in Him and putting faith in Jesus means buying ticket for heaven. In the meantime I reached at bus terminal and bought a bus ticket for Dhaka and I looked at it. I realized its value and importance. Without it I can not travel and reach my destination. I must keep it with much care that it is not lost, even not torn. This is the realization that led me to another truth that is I have ticket for heaven in my hand and in the hands of many like me. I believe we all know that this ticket means our faith in Jesus. But have we ever thought that we must be careful about it that it is lost, not torn meaning our faith in Him is always strong anywhere and in any situation? © 2015 K C Milan |
