Hold On

Hold On

A Poem by Kia

holding on

to things that cannot be

but still we hold on

why?

we know it's no good

dangerous

bad for us

but still we are enticed

even to the edge of death at times

but still we hold

hold on

to people uncaring

of our struggles and needs

caring maybe, but not enough

we hold hoping for change

that deep down people do care

but to hold on hurts too much

blisters on our hearts prove

the result is not worth the pain

so let go

and reach out

cause you can't grab what's priceless

when you're holding something worthless

WOW, these lines are simply brilliant!
You're amazing... I love the imagery and the metaphors were beautifully avant-garde.
I respect the way you said so much in so few lines, this is going in my favorites.
Keep up the excellent work!

"cause you can't grab what's priceless

when you're holding something worthless"............

nice conclusion!! Very sharp, I completely agree. Kind of reminds me of something that my idol, Mary J. Blige has said: "he may be right there in front of you 'your soulmate' but if you're still stuck in your same old ruts, drinking, drugs clinging onto the same 'ol man, then he may pass you right by...."

it's true. WE hold on, we hold on, but why, what for??? we are just hurting ourselves, and also are debilitating our chances to meet the 'RIGHT MAN." sometimes we are stubborn. No matter how many people tell us to stay clear, we deserve better, we dont' believe it. I know....I HAVE BEEN THERE. LOL.

nice poem. simple yet poignant.

I absolutely love this last stanza>>>

so let go
and reach out
cause you can't grab what's priceless
when you're holding something worthless

What a poignant way to put it! Take care~~~

sounds like the wisdom my father gave me. this is very good with a great flow to it. I think your message rings true as we hold onto things that are no good for us.

You have an excellent command of the prose, and an eye (and heart) for what drives the human emotion and condition. I enjoyed the piece very much, and thank you for sharing it.
