Girl Who Lives In The Mirror

Girl Who Lives In The Mirror

A Poem by K. Bridgid

Who is this girl that stares back at me

She must be a stranger

For I have not seen her before

We have never met

Her eyes are dead

Her bones appear to be jumping out of her body

Scars cover her once perfect skin

And her hip is leaking a vile red liquid

A sharp weapon rests in her left hand

I had watched her drag it back and forth along her hip

But I felt nothing

Surely she can’t be me

As I turn away from the mirror

And gaze down at my figure

My bones greet me

Something pokes my finger

There in my hand it rests

Still dripping

I turn around

I stare at the reflection

The girl who stares back

She is me

I am the girl whose eyes have no life

I am the girl whose bones you can see

I am the girl whose body is covered in scars

I am the girl who lives in the mirror
