Another Average Night

Another Average Night

A Poem by K. Bridgid

Heart pounding

Body shaking

The voices flood her mind

They do not speak the truth

She knows

But they are hard to suppress

“Do it” they say

“End your misery”

“Nobody will miss you”

She tears apart the medicine cabinet

Desperately trying to find those little white pills

The orange bottles are empty

She falls to the floor and digs at her skin

The jagged edge feels so good

The red droplets of blood look so pretty

For a moment the monsters disappear

But seconds later they whisper yet again

“You are still worthless”

She lays in her bed

Tears soaking the pillow

The open wounds staining the freshly washed sheets

She tries to fall asleep

Fists clenched and body curled

Just another average night

Wow this is absolutely heartbreaking. The saddest part is how often I'm sure this very scene happens around the world. Poor souls. This. is beautifully written and definitely brimming with emotion. You broke my heart in the most beautiful way
