Bittersweet

Bittersweet

A Poem by Fearofin

Bittersweet

Cries of joy resound through the crystal skies

But to him

It echoes bittersweet

Songs of victory fly off of free tongues

But to him

It tastes bittersweet

Gleeful faces shine like starlight

But to him

It looks bittersweet

He casts a gaze to the body

His brother

In his arms

And everything feels bittersweet

His heart breaks

And he falls

Brother by brother

And as the faces turn from joy to horror

The bitter bleeds into the sweet

very good. I really liked that last line. "The bitter bleeds into the sweet. The way you danced with bittersweet was really colorful to me. Keep up the good work.

Very descriptive and powerful throughout. The conclusion is particularly gut-wrenching. My only suggestion, if you're willing to do so, would be to use "They echo" for the "Cries of joy", "They taste" for the "Songs of victory", and "They look" for the "Gleeful faces". Making the pronoun/verb agree in number with the noun they relate to makes it sound more fluid, making the overall effect of these images even more impactful. This also adds effect to the line "And everything feels bittersweet". I absolutely love the final stanza - you employ the same image you have been using throughout, but in a unique and powerful way. Nice work!
