These RoadsA Poem by kbobThe road to freedom is paved with the victim's shadowless bloodI walk this weary road Nothing but pebbles in my way Small ripples in a big ocean Not enough to be led astray You travel near me But along a separate path Forever close, but never intertwined It never fulfills my heart, only half Half empty, or half full I leave this to his lies It’s his truths I don’t trust They won’t decide my demise Doom me to innocence Doom me to guilt I can break this paradise Or this hell he has built Pick you cards Pick my fate It shouldn’t be easy to overlook The poison that I ate There is little I can do As I lay in the dirt You jump to my road To heal my every hurt I missed you all these days But you never came You were not hidden But it’s not you I blame I blame this road I blame this trail From its dirt to its rocks I blame its every last detail They kept us apart But we are now together But these roads won’t connect We can’t linger forever We must move further down our paths Pray they intersect This is our damnation This is our defect We can never be together As long as these laws stand Let us spread our wings away from his hell Let us forget these memories so we may disband As long as our footprints Still lie on those roads Others will follow Each one of his toads They will see our paths end They will see where we betrayed They will see when we set ourselves free For life wasn’t as it was portrayed Where we went You are not meant to know You are meant to follow your trail As he watches and weaves and sews He’s making your future One of pitiless regret For you never strayed from life You walked the roads he set We have no mercy For we have no shame Perhaps the next to follow our footprints Won’t be as willing to play his game © 2008 kbobAuthor's Note
