Burdened By Innocence

Burdened By Innocence

A Poem by kbob
"

We guard those who can't guard themselves.

"

We live on stolen faith.

The faith of those who came before us

The hearts of those who stand beside us

We sap the love from their veins

We guard the forgotten roads.

The roads of cold reality

Wet with the tears left uncried

We walk these roads with solemn peace

We are what you make us to be.

We are the darkness that surrounds you

We are the feeling that keeps you mortal

We take this oath in silence

We are not alone.

We tread among broken hearts and broken bones

We make our stand by the hopes and dreams of the innocent

We are the ones who carry the world on our backs
