I am a PatriotA Poem by kbjamiA possible spoken word piece I am working onI pledge allegiance to the flag Of the United states of America I used to say this every morning at school. We get up, turn ourselves, to the flag where freedom ruled It was not questioned. It was not bad It was all good for all I knew But I am a patriot I'm a Liberal Progressive, sometimes called socialist Sometimes called communist By the rightist I'm a capitalist, sometimes called heartless Sometimes called imperialists By the Leftists But I am a patriot I know about the greed, lies, and atrocities I understand we bombed cities I understand that we're a bit individualistic With barely a sense of the definition of community And we may have a false sense of what it means to be free But I am a patriot I am a patriot who loves their country with all its faults I am a patriot who believes in democracy Even if my guy doesn't win I am a patriot who runs with the notion of freedom Even if we are not free because I believe I am a patriot I don't believe in the old or same I don't believe that the rules are fair in this game I don't believe all wars are a must I don't believe our officials are just I don't believe that we are the best But it's what I know and where I rest So until the day I die I believe that we can be the change With all the strange laws and money in exchanged I believe that in the power of the vote I will not choke when I sing my note To congress I'll quote my rights and spoken with my clean coat I scream til the day I die! I am a patriot
