Mary's MelodyA Poem by that-little-green-monsterThis is a ballad about a young girl and her mother that abadon her on the side of the street. This poem is fictional. I had to write it for a class assignment.“Mommy, dearest, don’t you care?” Asks the little girl, torn and broken. But Mother just shook her head. “Leave me alone. Go to bed.” Locked away in the room again, Black swirls taunting her. Mary didn’t like the dark, She didn’t like the things Mommy called her. “You little Monster. That little devil. You weren’t a gift, you’re just trouble.” The words always seemed to haunt her. “Mommy, dearest, don’t you care? Oh Mommy, can you please try to love me?”
Mother dear, just walked away. She never actually cared. Mother dear, just turned her head, She never really heard her. One day came and it passed Just like the others. But somehow it was different, Because there was no Mary.
The little girl was sent away, And can’t find her way back. But Mommy should be glad, She never wanted Mary. “Oh Mommy dearest, don’t you care? Oh Mommy, can you please try to love me?” Mary cried as Mommy sped away.
The days came, the days left, Always stayed the same. The Barbie doll that was her only friend, Waited until the very end. And Mommy dear, who never noticed she was away, Came home alone on that very day.
As Mary sighed her last breath, And listened to her heartbeat fade away, She thought, “Mommy dear, are you happy? Oh Mommy dear, I’m almost gone, Just like you wanted. Oh Mommy dear, I’ll leave you soon, Do you finally love me?” © 2012 that-little-green-monster |
